Success Strategies: 3 Simple Steps For Effecting Permanent Change In Our Lives

Success Strategies

How have your success strategies served you to date? Are you currently looking to achieve more success in your one or more areas of your life?  Could it be that our success strategies are fundamentally anchored at the level of our thought? And by that, I do not merely mean that first we have to think about what we are going to do/have before we actually go about doing/having that thing.

We are all familiar with the concept: ‘What we think about we bring about’. And at a broad, brush-strokes level, that is certainly true. However, if this were all there was to it, we would all have everything we had ever desired in our life right here, right now, plus  a bucket load more besides. To more accurately understand this statement, I believe that we need to drill down a little deeper and to look at what we mean by the word ‘think’ in more detail.

Basically, we can divide our thoughts into 2 main categories: our Conscious thoughts and our Subconscious thoughts. By Conscious thoughts, I mean our conscious intentions. The thoughts that we intentionally create and give our focus to each day, like: “I must remember to buy some frozen peas for dinner tonight”. Resarch shows that around 20% of our thoughts occur at a conscious level each day. The remaining 80% happen at the level of our Subconscious. Subconcious thoughts fall into 2 categories: learned skills, i.e. the repetition and practice of something long enough at a conscious level that is becomes automated by the Subconcious mind. For example once we have learned how to drive, and spent long enough practicing those skills,  we can jump into the car and go down to buy the frozen peas we were thinking about earlier, on ‘autopilot’,  all the while thinking about a new list of things in our head. The second category of Subconcious thought is the general blur of thoughts, that slosh around continually somewhere at the ‘back of our mind’, like some endless playing of the video tapes of our lives, until our concious mind presses ‘stop’, reaches back and pulls one of those blurry thoughts into our consciousness. An example would be the name of someone who you were thinking about 2 days ago, that suddenly pops into your head while you are driving along.

Armed with this knowledge, would you be surprised to learn that if only around 20% of what you ultimately desire is currently showing up in your life right now, it may be that you need to spend some more time consciously working on what you are ‘inputting’ on a daily basis to affect what is happpening to the other 80%?

So what is the recipe for change? As we cannot control what is currently happening at a subconcious level, we need to change our input at a conscious level. To do that, there are 3 simple steps that we can follow:

1) Processes such as positive affirmations, meditation, and keeping a daily performance journal, in which we record only the positive things we have achieved that day, will all serve to to feed powerful affirming thoughts into our conscious minds, which in turn will ‘drip feed’ into the subconscious.

2) Whenever negative emotions come up for us  e.g, emotions of anger, doubt or fear that we can achieve or have what it is we desire, we need to put them straight out of our minds. Why? Because emotions are transitory. It is emotion + thought that generates a permanent feeling at a subconcious level not emotion alone. If we refuse to pay attention to that emotion, it will pass.

3) We need to surround ourselves with a community of like-minded individuals and consume a daily diet of positive thoughts, by reading motivational and inspirational books and quotes. In this way we generate positive thoughts and emotions, which if we choose to focus on, create new, positive feelings. The Subconscious cannot distinguish between ‘real’ and ‘imaginary’. So, at the level of our feelings, our subconcious can no longer tell a ‘real’ past event from an ‘imagined’ one. By repeatedly consuming a daily diet of positive energy, over time, this will become our ‘reality’.

By following these 3 simple steps, we can gradually use the 20% of our thoughts that we have control over to bring about change to the 80% that just ‘happen’, thus effecting the other 80% of stuff that is showing up in our lives.  I would like to conclude by wishing you at least 80% more success in you life and your business, and I would also like to  invite you to view and comment on our positive success quotes and inspirational videos sections, that will assist you in rewiring that 80% of  thoughts that you are not curently using to ‘bring about what you think about’.

Happy Success Strategies!
